MIT SLOAN MBA VIDEO QUESTIONS
MIT Sloan Video Questions & Practice
Prepare for MIT Sloan's two distinct MBA video components: a known personal-story video followed by an on-the-spot randomized question.
CURRENT FORMAT
How the MIT Sloan video questions work
MIT Sloan changed its MBA video component for 2026-27. Video Question 1 is known in advance: applicants have up to 90 seconds to share who they are, where they come from and what has shaped them. MIT requires a single take, direct-to-camera delivery, with no editing, background music or subtitles.
“Every applicant has a story that can't be captured in a resume. Take up to 90 seconds to share yours: who you are, where you come from, and what's shaped the person you are today.”
Prepare your personal-story video separately. Rehearse your spoken content and check its length using the recording setup you plan to use for your application. Keep it within 90 seconds and follow MIT’s single-take, direct-to-camera requirements. The simulator below is for spontaneous responses to Video Question 2.
Video Question 2 is randomized and open-ended. MIT says no prior preparation is required. Current-cycle reporting indicates a very short 5-second preparation window followed by a 60-second response; MIT's public page confirms the random-question structure but does not currently publish that timer.

HOW TO PREPARE
Practice the skill, not a script
Know your examples
Review the experiences, decisions and goals behind your application so useful examples come to mind quickly. Do not memorize complete answers.
Give the answer a simple structure
Make your main point early, support it with a concrete example or reason, and finish with a clear takeaway. STAR can help with behavioral questions, but do not force every response into the same formula.
Make the timing feel familiar
Practice enough to understand what the response window feels like. Aim to finish naturally rather than racing to fill every second.
Review delivery as well as content
Look into the camera, stay composed and speak conversationally. If you record yourself, focus on one or two useful adjustments rather than trying to make every attempt perfect.
MIT SLOAN VIDEO FAQ
Common questions about the MIT Sloan video assessment
Should I memorize answers?
No. The useful preparation is becoming comfortable organizing your thoughts quickly and speaking naturally under the format's constraints.
Are these real admissions questions?
Where the school publicly provides a prompt, we identify it clearly. Other simulator questions are original practice questions designed around realistic MBA interview themes; they are not presented as leaked or predicted questions.
Does this practice tool upload my recording?
No. Recording is optional, and any recording remains locally on your device. My Video Interview Prep does not upload your camera or microphone recording to us.
