LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL MBA VIDEO SUBMISSION
London Business School Video Essay Questions & Practice
Practice the distinctive LBS two-question format: one fixed school-fit question and one randomized question, answered under tight preparation and response limits.
CURRENT FORMAT
How the LBS video submission works
The LBS video submission comes after you have progressed to the interview stage. It consists of two questions: one fixed question that you can prepare for in advance, followed by one randomized question.
“What will you gain from the London Business School MBA Programme that you won't gain from another MBA programme?”
This is the fixed question currently reported for the LBS video submission. The second question is randomized.
Timing: Recent 2026 reporting gives candidates 40 seconds to prepare and 90 seconds to respond to each question. Other recent admissions sources report a 45-second preparation window, and LBS does not currently publish the exact timing on its public MBA pages. Our simulator uses 40 seconds; for the real submission, always follow the timing shown in your LBS invitation.

HOW TO PREPARE
Prepare differently for the fixed and random questions
Know your LBS-specific reasons
The fixed question is known in advance, so there is no reason to improvise its substance. Identify the particular LBS resources, experiences and characteristics that matter to your goals and explain why they matter to you. The challenge is to be specific without sounding memorized.
Do not script the fixed answer word for word
You can prepare much more thoroughly for this question than for the random one, but a memorized speech often sounds like one. Know your key points and their order, then practice expressing them naturally within 90 seconds.
Use the random question to practice adaptability
The second question can test behavioral examples, teamwork, leadership, self-awareness, international exposure or other personal themes. Practice organizing an unfamiliar prompt quickly rather than trying to predict every possible question.
Keep both responses consistent with your application
By this stage, LBS has already reviewed your written application. Your video responses should add personality and detail while remaining consistent with the candidacy you have already presented.
